Looking Thru His Eyes

HELEN J. LAUTT
ARTIST STATEMENT

While ministering at Safe Harbor Church in February 2002, Kris Vallotton gave me a prophetic word.  He said that he received a vision of me on the beach painting on a canvas.  He also stated that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob was going to download pictures and colors for me to paint from the Throne Room.  Following Kris’ prayer that God would impart this creative gift to me, I knew that I was to paint the land of Israel, its people, and its culture.

Since I did not have an art background, I immediately started searching for a watercolor class to learn how to draw and paint.  During the process of purchasing my art supplies, I discovered Barbara McLaughin’s Drawing and Watercolor/Water Media classes.  From the beginning, Barbara taught me how to draw and paint bringing out the best of my abilities.  She never ceased in critiquing my paintings; in order to direct me to achieve excellence in my artwork.  Her guidance in directing my creativity and talent has been invaluable.

I only paint what God reveals to me through prayer and intercession.  My art has many layers of meanings; some of which I do not understand at the moment and discover much later.  Sometimes He gives me specific pictures and colors to use in my painting.

God has given me a love for Israel, its people, and its land.  I have been painting the photographs that Armenian Photographer Elia Kahvedjian, Gloria A. Lautt, my step daughter who is an amateur photographer, and I have taken.  I have been to Israel numerous times even staying as long as 30 days at a time to get more in touch with the land, its people and its culture.  Needless to say, I have shared many adventures in the land with my stepdaughter and others.  Jointly we have presented a slide show of our Israel trip photos to Temple Aviv Judea, a Messianic Congregation; Christian Arab events; numerous friends and family.
